Lunch hacks for school and work
August, 2018As you prepare to get back into routine this September, we want to help make things a little easier and healthier for you. Here are six of our favourite lunch hacks:
Roast veggies and potatoes that you can reheat throughout the week
On Sunday nights, cook up a batch of roast veggies and potatoes to add to your lunch. Try cooking veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and peppers as these veggies tend to be nutrient packed and hardy enough to last the week.
Pack your leftovers into lunch boxes right after eating
It’s easiest to pack your lunch while you clean up from your meal. This ensures you don’t run out of time in the morning and makes meal planning easier.
Keep condiments and seasoning at your desk or locker
If you love hot sauce or always need ketchup for your sandwich, pack these things at your desk for easy access. Sometimes the difference between a good meal and a great meal is adding a little flavour to spice things up! A great meal can also help elevate your mood and help you conquer the rest of the work.
Wait to toss your salad
If you like your greens crisp then wait until lunch time to add dressing to your salad. You can pack dressing separately in a smaller container or keep a bottle at work.
Re-use those mason jars
For those COLD-FXers who prefer lunch snacks over a meal, reuse mason jars to make the perfect holder for veggies and dip snack! You can fill a mason jar with hummus and chopped veggies. This healthy snack not only tastes great but is visually appealing! And since avocados are having their moment, try a twist on the dip by adding avocado.
Cut an apple into pieces and fit them together
Love apple slices but hate eating them when they turn brown? Try cutting the apple and putting it back together – sealed with an elastic band. Your apple will stay fresh and ready to eat.
